Nissan Tekton Overview

Launched July 9, 2026, the Tekton is Nissan's badge-engineered take on the new-generation Renault Duster, built at Nissan's Chennai plant under the brand's "One Car, One World" strategy for both domestic sale and export. It shares the Duster's platform and engines entirely, but wears its own bolder, boxier design pulled visibly from the Nissan Patrol — a full-width chrome grille, connected LED lighting front and rear, and a piano-black rear garnish Nissan calls the "Majestic Himalayan Crest."

Two turbo-petrol engines are offered: a 99bhp 1.0-litre (manual only) and a 160bhp 1.3-litre available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT automatic. Inside, it gets a tri-tone beige, burgundy and rose-gold cabin, dual digital displays, and Google built-in connectivity.

Notably, the Tekton achieved a 5-Star BNCAP rating, and comes with a genuine Level 2 ADAS suite — a strong safety case in this segment.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Distinctive styling that stands apart from its Duster twin

  • Google built-in for native navigation and apps
Cons
  • Brand new nameplate for India — no ownership track record yet

  • No diesel or hybrid option
  • No CNG option, unlike some rivals
Best For
Buyers who want a mid-size SUV with genuinely strong crash-test credentials and distinctive styling, and are comfortable with a smaller dealer network in exchange for standing out from the more commonly-seen Duster.
